| seller note | A rare Victorian ear trumpet or hearing horn, by F C Rein & Son, with ivory ear piece and electroplated mounts. |
| comment | This is a huge find. The trumpet has never been seen in 20 years, (later realised that I had seen one at the Thackray) I was concerned for the auction price but it was fair for the rarity. My first body-worn conversation tube item. The auctioneer is wrong, Rein moved into 30 Strand in 1918! The item appears as a Heerese in the 1914 Rein catalogue. |
